20/2/97 - 28/3/97
Through the propositions of five
artists very active in the european and international art scene : Michel Blazy (France), Max Mohr (Germany), Henrietta Lehtonen (Finland), Maria Roosen (The Netherlands) and David Shaw (USA), the “beauty” and the
“beast” are transcended in order to give a more pertinent vision of our
conception on æsthetics today.
“Construction” and “destruction” are
absorbed and give place to a new and sensitive renaissance, transforming
sculpture. The magic moment when “body” takes the right to reflexion. The quest
of beauty and the fear of reaching it find their solution in the engagment of
the artists, who, assuming history, make this transformation possible.
The artists defy matter, which becomes
the privileged target of the subversive æsthetic jugment. Thus, the
sculpture they are practicing doesn’t respond to the conformist vision of
beauty and ugliness, it is placed beyond the good and the evil.
